In 2021, SuperGroupies released this automatic mechanical watch inspired by Bloodborne.
The dial is designed to recreate the window of the Astral Clocktower, the location where players face Lady Maria of the Astral Clocktower. It features a sophisticated layered dial structure, where multiple components are intricately stacked to create remarkable depth, giving the impression of looking into a miniature gothic architectural world.
When light reflects across the dial, it creates a mysterious and dreamlike glow, as if you have wandered into the Hunter’s Dream. The indices are engraved with elegant Roman numerals, perfectly matching the gothic horror atmosphere of Bloodborne.
Just inside the Roman numeral indices, a circular decorative ring surrounding the dial features extremely detailed etchings of Caryll Runes. From a distance, it appears to be nothing more than a beautiful gothic geometric pattern or the kind of antique decoration found on a vintage timepiece. However, when viewed closely, the hidden Caryll Runes reveal themselves, rewarding the wearer with intricate details inspired directly by the game’s world.
The watch uses an open-heart design, allowing the balance wheel — the “heart” of the mechanical movement — to be seen through the dial as it rapidly oscillates. The reverse side also reveals the automatic rotor and the precise movement of the internal gears, creating a fascinating view of the hidden mechanism inside.
This concept of looking into the unseen inner workings beautifully connects with the game’s idea of increasing “Insight” — discovering hidden truths beyond what is normally visible.
At the 12 o’clock position, the Sun & Moon display function changes between a sun and moon disc depending on the time of day. It evokes the transformation of the sky during the endless cycle of the “Night of the Hunt.”
The GMT function, which displays the time in two different locations, perfectly represents the dual nature of Bloodborne’s world: the contrast between ordinary reality and the mysterious realms of dreams and nightmares.
By using an automatic mechanical movement, the watch expresses the quiet yet unsettling flow of time found throughout Yharnam and the Hunter’s Dream — not through electronic sounds, but through the precise movement of traditional gears.
The watch requires no battery; it is powered by the wearer’s movement. As the wrist moves during daily activities, the internal rotor rotates and winds the mainspring automatically. This connection between movement and the passage of time mirrors the game’s theme where progress is made through the player’s actions.
The genuine leather strap, unlike synthetic materials, develops character over time and gradually conforms to the wearer’s wrist. The scratches and natural aging of the leather evoke the worn hunter gear of someone who has survived countless battles during the brutal Night of the Hunt.
