Saying the items are used but they haven't been. They haven't been removed from their boxes and are still attached to their boxes and are sealed. They were briefly displayed then in storage until recently. The boxes may show signs of storage wear and tear such as marks, creases, dings etc but nothing I can really see or pinpoint at all. Please study the photos to gauge condition for yourself, the photos form an important part of the description.

Hasbro created these specific 12-inch "large-scale" figures to serve a targeted strategy in modern retail

In the 1980s and 90s, action figures were traditionally small (around 5 inches tall). In the modern toy market, giant retail chains requested a budget-friendly option. Hasbro designed these 12-inch figures to look massive on a shelf while keeping production costs low by using simple joints, appealing to parents looking for value

These figures were specifically greenlit to capitalize on the massive marketing push for the movie Ghostbusters: Afterlife. Hasbro wanted classic versions of the original core team on retail shelves so young children discovering the old films could interact with the legacy characters

In late 2019, Hasbro announced a major corporate commitment to phase out single-use plastics from its toy packaging. This global initiative aimed to eliminate materials like plastic polybags, ties, and the traditional acetate window sheets commonly found on action figure boxes. Because this specific 12-inch Ghostbusters line entered production in 2020, it was among the very first waves designed under this eco-friendly mandate

Instead of sealing the box with clear plastic, the packaging features a recessed cardboard insert that securely anchors the figures from behind. This creates an open "try-me" window style that allows kids to physically touch the toy and feel the plastic sculpt directly on the retail shelf without damaging or opening the outer box

This windowless packaging approach became highly controversial among adult toy collectors, who voiced concerns about figures getting dusty or scratched while sitting on store shelves. Due to consumer feedback and retail security issues, Hasbro eventually reversed this policy in 2024, reintroducing transparent protective windows made from recycled materials.

Because these 2020 figures feature this distinct windowless design, they serve as a perfect example of a short, unique era in modern toy packaging history
