- This beautiful lamp is a highly detailed bronze replica of the famous "Neapolitan Fisher Boy" sculpture originally made by Jean Baptiste Carpeaux in 1873.

- Where the original sculpture featured a seashell proportional in size to the boy's body, this lamp has been reimagined to feature a large stained glass seashell which is the lamp shade

- This lamp is unmarked, and it is unknown if it is an original antique or a reproduction

- If it is a reproduction, it is certainly a very high quality reproduction featuring heavy bronze construction and weighing over 18 pounds!

- Some things to note are that this piece was purchased from a very old estate with pretty much all antiques. Very little in the estate was newer than the 1950s and the house itself dated to the 1920s. 

- The socket and wiring is definitely newer with philips head screws and the screw that secures the top of the seashell shade to the rest of the sculpture is philips head. It is unknown if the lamp is a newer reproduction or has been rewired, but the electronics are newer.

- Condition wise, the piece is excellent showing minimal wear and no breakage or missing parts

- The lamp works properly and is beautiful when lit up (features a thumb wheel switch on the cord to switch it on and off)

- This lamp measures about 14" tall and the base measures about 7" across

- As previously stated, it is very heavy for its size weighing over 18 pounds.
