This photographic print of Edgbaston Hall, New Street, Birmingham is on a page from an 1894 book titled The Making of Birmingham, being a richly illustrated history of the city by Robert Dent. 

The printed area measures 155 x 100 mm approx, and is a photogravure print of an 1830 engraving. I've overlaid a mat to give you a sense of how this could look framed, but the mat (or frame) is not included in this listing. The rest of the page has printed text as well as the illustration which I've left to allow framing to be easier. You may have an existing frame with a mat but the size is quite particular so you may need your local framer to make a mat (ie a thick card sheet with a window with bevelled edges).

My copy of the book was very worn with the bindings loose and the spine missing. Many pages were foxed and last year I replaced it with a copy in much better condition. 

Rather than destroy the old book block, I removed the pages with illustrations and framed some of these for home hanging—I have eight hanging that get circulated seasonally! I decided to put the extra plates on eBay for a low price so that someone with an interest in Birmingham history could benefit.

In the trade, this is called book breaking, sometimes done with a 'healthy' book just to capitalise on the contents, the prints being worth more than the value of the book. That's not quite what has happened here...my book was on its last legs.
