Vintage 1980 Tomy Bumbling Boxing Game Boxed Complete Wind Up Toy Retro 80s
Up for sale/auction is a fantastic piece of retro 1980s childhood nostalgia: the official **Bumbling Boxing** portable tabletop game by Tomy (Model No. 7084).
The Box: Included and intact! Shows vintage shelf and storage wear, edge scuffing, dents, creases, small tears, corner paper fraying etc, but colours remain strong, and it presents well for display.
The Boxing Ring/Case: Very good condition. The side stickers are flat, vibrant, and clean. The plastic handles and locking tabs function perfectly.
The Boxers: Cosmetically in great shape with intact gloves and clean details. The boxer on the left winds up and goes but sadly his opponent on the right no longer winds, he boxing days are over BUT they still both look fantastic.
Item History & Details:
Released in 1980, this clever mechanical game features a protective carrying case that folds open to become a fully detailed boxing ring. It includes both original wind-up boxer figures (one blue shorts/red gloves, one yellow shorts/orange gloves). Wind them up, set them loose, and see who becomes the champion!
Released by Tomy in 1980, a titan of innovative mechanical wind-up toys during the late 70s and 80s
This was part of Tomy's highly successful Pocket/Portable Sports Games lineup. The white outer plastic case folds out flat to reveal the complete boxing ring.
Players wind up each mechanical boxer using the key on their side, place them in opposite corners, and let them go. The unique off-center winding mechanism causes them to bounce, spin, and jab haphazardly around the ring until one gets knocked flat or tossed out of the ropes
Due to their bizarre, expressive design, these exact wind-up figures were famously used as prop imagery on iconic 90s alternative music artwork, including Nirvana-adjacent promotional materials, making them a cross-collectible piece.
