They are defined by their deep, intricate tribal motifs, depictions of local wildlife (such as elephants or snakes), and completely collapsible, portable construction.
Traditionally utilized across East Africa—including Kenya, Rwanda, and the broader sub-Saharan region—these chairs were historically used by tribal elders and chiefs for communal meetings, storytelling (palavers), and birthing.
