Up for sale is a rare, beautifully preserved vintage Jotastar Mercedes 450 SLC Sonic Control Car
This clever vintage toy utilizes acoustic frequency technology. Pulling the trigger on the hand controller makes a sharp clicking sound, prompting the internal sensor inside the Mercedes to cycle between moving forward and backing up in a curve.
The car is molded in a striking bright yellow racing livery accented with period-correct sponsors including Castrol, Shell, Goodyear, STP, and Champion decals, featuring racing number 7.

This complete boxed set includes:

Mercedes-Benz 450 SLC Plastic Bodied Car (Yellow variant)
Mechanical "Sonic Signal" Hand Transmitter (Black with orange gridded face)
Original Styrofoam Lower Packaging Tray
Original Illustrated Display Box (Featuring the built-in operating instruction panel on the reverse flap)

Note on functionality:

Due to lack of testing batteries, the item is sold cosmetically as-is / untested. The mechanical hand clicker functions perfectly with a loud, sharp snap) and the battery compartment is very clean.

Jotastar is fondly remembered by vintage collectors for their legendary 1977 Marvel Super Heroes Top Trumps card games, stretchable Marvel figures, and licensed movie track sets. This sonic-frequency Mercedes is a prime example of their electronic novelty range from the dawn of the 1980s

While the box art depicts a white version of the Mercedes, it was common for Hong Kong manufacturers working with Jotastar to package alternate color variants (like this bright yellow race variant) inside the standard global box.
