This beautiful Japanese box is decorated in hand painted lacquerware, showing a lovely Geisha lady picking flowers.

It's typical of the 18th and 19th Century and the writing under the loose velvet lined internal wooden panel may give a better inference as to precise age.

I'm probably wrong but it looks to be a presentation box of some kind. I (romantically, perhaps?) wonder if it's like one seen in films when the samurai warrior offers the cut off finger as an apology for offence given to the overlord.

The condition is very good, with minor flaked lacquerware & light scratches and 2 replaced screws in the hinge, as shown.

It measures approximately 30.5cm wide x 10.5cm front to back x 7.5cm high.

I can combine postage where possible, if sizes and weights apply favourably and there is no risk of damage to do so.

INTERNATIONAL POSTAGE VIA EBAY'S GLOBAL SYSTEMS or ask for quote if international isn't shown.
