This is an incredibly well hand painted and uniquely shaped Japanese Satsuma vase dating to the mid 19th century.

It's hexagonally faceted and shows a mat red background with incredibly fine gold hand painting showing a woodland scene with birds and butterflies.

Everything about this vase shows incredible rarity and quality of the very highest standard.

It's around 15cm tall x 7cm wide.

Good age related condition - I think it's once been in 2 pieces & put straight back together showing a very fine vertical join. The upper neck has been repainted along part of one edge and the upper opening has very tiny gold flea bites missing, as shown.
