This is an extremely well painted rare Japanese Satsuma lidded pot or jar c1880-1910.

The body and the lid are both equally shaped with 12 matching shaped lobes.

I've never seen one like this so it's been difficult to date or assign, especially without a signature mark, but, the foot wear and overall makeup, including the crackled glaze and hand painted foliage and Moriage enamelling speaks for itself.

This vase is museum quality, in my opinion, and is incredibly rare in both its shape and its decoration.

It's around 8.8cm tall x 8.5cm wide.

In excellent condition,  light glaze scuffs on the lids rim, thought to be kiln related issues, as shown.

Please examine the pictures on all my listings as they form part of the description.
