This is a stunningly beautiful Japanese Porcelain lidded pot, hand decorated in Japanese Imari (Iro-e) enamels and dates to the the Meiji Period, specifically c1860-1880.
The decoration shows 3 Shogun and their banners preparing to fight.
This is one of the best examples of the type and period that you will find, in my opinion.
Signed on the base; 'Made by Hichozan Shimpo Sei (from the Arita area)' - a trademark used by 'Tashiro Monzaemon' up until around c1900.
A previous owner has cut a thin cork circular to sit on the upper rim where the lid sits in order for there to be hardly any wear.
It's around 7cm tall x 7.5cm wide & 124gm.
Amazing condition with no chips, cracks repairs - small areas without glaze here and there (as it was made). The foot rim has a little kiln grit and is slightly rough in small areas, although not damaged (also, as it was made).
EBAY'S INTERNATIONAL WILL BE USED IF YOU PURCHASE FROM OVERSEAS.
