da Vinci Cosmotop-Spin Travel Brush Set

Series 1573 · 3 Round Brushes · Sizes 4, 6 & 10

Vegan synthetic fibre · Protective travel case · Made in Germany

Why painters reach for it

✔️ Firm, springy snap that returns the tip fast after each stroke — controlled linework and detail, not a floppy belly.

✔️ Fine point that holds under moderate load, so small-area work stays precise.

✔️ Steady, well-regulated flow — clean paint release without the over-wet, gushy feel of squirrel-style brushes.

✔️ Vegan synthetic fibre with sable-like handling — no natural hair.

✔️ Screw-together travel handle and protective case — built for sketchbooks, field kits and plein-air.

About this set

The da Vinci Cosmotop-Spin Travel Brush Set 1573 is a compact set of round synthetic watercolour brushes made for painting on the move. It includes three sizes — 4, 6 and 10 — in a protective imitation-leather case, so it travels safely in a sketchbook bag or field kit.

The Cosmotop-Spin fibre is engineered to combine smooth paint release with a reliable point and energetic spring. That makes one set capable of detail, lines and small washes without swapping between very soft and very stiff brushes. Because the fibre is synthetic, it is also a vegan-friendly choice.

It is worth considering if you want a travel brush that feels more precise than a soft wash brush and more portable than a standard long-handle round. Keep it clean, reshape the tip after rinsing, and store it dry in the case so the point stays sharp and the ferrule free of dried paint.

Specifications

📦 What's in the set

▸ 3 × da Vinci Cosmotop-Spin round brushes — sizes 4, 6 and 10

▸ 1 × imitation-leather protective travel case

Best for

▸ Travel watercolour sketching where a protective cap and compact handle matter

▸ Controlled detail work, linework and small-area painting

▸ Washes and general painting with fluid media, where a point still matters

▸ Painters who want a vegan brush with sable-like handling rather than a very soft squirrel-style round

💡 Care & pro tips

▸ Rinse mid-session in clean water and reshape the point with your fingers.

▸ Clean with lukewarm water and a mild brush soap — a dedicated cleaner such as The Masters Brush Cleaner & Preserver, or da Vinci's own brush soap, works well.

▸ Never let paint dry in the ferrule and don't leave the brush soaking.

▸ Store it dry and capped in its case — never rest it on the tip.

Honest limitations

▸ Not the most efficient choice for very large, uninterrupted washes — a mop or flat covers ground faster.

▸ Not designed for heavy drybrushing.

▸ If you want an extremely soft, full-bellied, floppy brush, a squirrel-style round (e.g. da Vinci Casaneo) will suit better.

▸ If you specifically want natural sable, look to da Vinci Maestro travel rounds instead.
