Description: Porsche's intended replacement for the 911 featured a front-mounted all-alloy V8 paired with a rear-mounted transaxle gearbox, delivering near-perfect weight distribution and a level of refinement previously unseen from the Stuttgart marque. The galvanised steel bodyshell, aluminium doors and bonnet, and integrated polyurethane bumpers were all remarkably advanced for the era. Upon launch, the 928 was met with widespread acclaim and remains the only sports car ever to have been crowned European Car of the Year.Critics immediately recognised the advances the 928 offered over its contemporaries.
