Vintage Lufkin No. 95 Tinner’s Circumference Rule measuring approximately 36 inches in length. This specialized steel rule was designed for tinsmiths, sheet metal workers, can makers, and industrial fabricators. Unlike a standard machinist’s rule, it features numerous factory-engraved reference tables used for laying out cylindrical containers, determining capacities, and calculating dimensions for various can and vessel sizes.
The rule is marked “The Lufkin Rule Co.” and “No. 95” and includes both inch and metric graduations. The reverse side contains specialized tables for flaring liquid measure, straight dry measure, pitched-top cans, flat-top cans, gallon and bushel capacities, and circumference calculations, making it an uncommon and desirable industrial measuring tool.
