Key Opening Press Pack Details
The 1995 press materials emphasised
several groundbreaking technical and storytelling elements:
- The Columbiad Cannon: The signature 32-meter
cannon on the exterior of the mountain used an inclined catapult launch to
"fire" 24-person trains at a speed of up to 44 mph (71 km/h).
- Cinematic Storytelling: Based on Jules
Verne’s 1865 novel From the Earth to the Moon and Georges Méliès's
1902 film A Trip to the Moon, the ride took guests into the
pitch-black mountain through asteroid fields and around the moon.
- Onboard Audio: It was one of the first
Disney coasters to feature a synchronized onboard audio system, with an
original score by Steve Bramson playing cues specific to the train's speed
and location.
- Innovations: The attraction featured three
inversions (a sidewinder, a corkscrew, and a loop), a first for a Disney
coaster at the time of its opening.
- The cardboard outer is A4 outer
which opens to A3 with Press information tucked into either side. Includes four different 35 mm colour slides
and 27 pages of typed information.
This promotional press kit for the
Space Mountain: De la Terre à la Lune attraction, features a blue starry
background.
Attraction History: The logo
on the cover corresponds to the attraction's original iteration at Disneyland
Paris, "Space Mountain: De la Terre à la Lune," which opened in 1995.
Design Details: The cover art showcases the
iconic large cannon, the "Columbiad," pointing toward the moon,
inspired by the Jules Verne novel.
- Media Information: The text at the bottom
indicates this is an official "Information Presse" (Press
Information) folder for media use.
