This Mount Washington Pairpoint Opal Glass Biscuit Cracker Jar has a hand-painted flower pattern, possibly carnations, on a cream-colored base. This piece dates from the late 19th/early 20th century and was produced by the Mount Washington Pairpoint Company in the United States. The hand-painted design features some raised textures which showcases the intricate craftsmanship and unique design of the Victorian era.
The jar is approximately 6 inches in height to the rim of the jar and 9 inches in height with the lid. The diameter measures approximately 5 1/2 inches.
The jar has a lift-off lid and silver tone metal handle designed by Van Bergh Silverplate Co. The markings for the metal work is shown on the backside of the lid (see photo). The handle does detach (I am not sure if that was part of the original design). The silver rim on the top of the jar is firmly attached.
Condition: Very good condition, there are no visible scratches, there are some smudges on the glass, which are being left for the buyer to clean.
