This is an AWESOME vintage NOS and NEVER USED metal (Aluminum) Double Sided O's Gold Corn Sign!! You get the NOS Sign and a small bag of the original hardware for hanging that came with it as you can see in the photos. This sign came right out of the original box they were shipped in all of those years ago and still had the protective paper and cardboard dividers between each sign. The color is FANTASTIC on this sign!! O's Gold colors were red and black I believe but to us the color is like a metal flake, metallic orange and bright, deep black and white. This sign has so much shine to it that it was a bit hard to photograph so we did give you pictures with several different backgrounds. Any illusion of dents, color issues, or anything like that, I assure you are only reflections, spots from the lighting in the room, etc. This sign I would say is in near mint to mint condition as it does has some very light surface scratches here and there from storage (as you can see in the photos), but nothing bad. I think you would be hard pressed to find a sign that is as nice of an example as this one!!
We can say all of this with 100% certainty because we purchased it directly from the family of a man who was a grocery/general store owner in Dover, PA and later a National Distributor for O's Gold. He was a Pennsylvania distributer of O's Gold Corn Seed from the 1970's into the 1980's.
Mr. Jack L. Crone owned the J.L. Crone's Grocery Store in Dover until 1975. After 1975 he sold the family owned and operated grocery/general store. Jack's sales for O's Gold Seed Co. led him to be their distributor for PA. Mr. Crone's family expressed to us how much of a hard worker he was and how much fun he was and how much care he had for his family and community. He would often work 2 to 3 jobs at one time. Jack worked as a truck driver as well over the years for various companies and had retired from Consolidated Freightways in 1990. Unfortunately Jack L Crone passed away at the age of 92 in 2021. We didn't get to meet Mr. Crone but were fortunate enough to meet his family and we were able to purchase this wonderful sign and other items directly from the family.
As far as O's Gold, A Mr. Mansel Ocheltree, a famer of Grundy County, founded O's Gold Seed Co. in 1964 after selling $1,372.00 worth of corn from his land to his neighbors and it took off from there!!
