Malawi 1970 Bird Topicals — Scott #131, #136, #137 (3 stamps)

Three colorful Malawi bird-topical stamps from 1970, all unused with light hinge remnants and very fine appearance.

Stamps included:

• Scott #131 — Grey-Headed Bush-Shrike 1/6, with "Rand Easter Show 1970" overprint. Issued 18 March 1970 to mark Malawi's exhibit at the Johannesburg Rand Easter Show. Designed by Victor Whiteley, printed by Harrisons & Sons, London.
• Scott #136 — Paradise Whydah, 2/- base stamp surcharged "20t". From the 1970 dual-currency surcharge series issued ahead of Malawi's February 1971 conversion from shillings to tambala.
• Scott #137 — Southern Carmine Bee-Eater, 1/- base stamp surcharged "10t". Same 1970 decimal-transition surcharge issue as #136.

The base designs (#136 and #137) come from Malawi's celebrated 1968 Birds definitive series — widely collected for the strength of the original photogravure printing and vivid color reproduction. The Rand Easter Show overprint on #131 is a recognized single-event commemorative tied to Malawi-South Africa trade history.

Condition: Unused, lightly hinged (small mount remnant on reverse), very fine centering, fresh color, intact perforations. See photos for exact condition. Sold as shown.
