Antique early 20th-century vaseline/ uranium glass pitcher with original silver-plate mount by Crescent Silver Manufacturing Co. New York.
This impressive and substantial example stands approximately 13 inches tall and is an exceptional display piece for uv reactive glass collectors. Under UV/blacklight the glass produces a bright, vivid green fluorescence, making it ideal for cabinet or shelf display.
The pitcher features beautifully etched decoration with a floral garland and basket motif, mounted in its original silver-plated frame including handle, collar, lid, and pierced base.
The base is stamped:
CRESCENT SILVER MFG. CO. – TRIPLE PLATE
The Crescent Silverware Manufacturing Company began operations in New York in 1922 and later moved to Port Jervis, New York in 1939. Based on the hallmark, glass type, and design style, this piece dates to approximately circa 1925–1935, placing it firmly in the antique period.
Pale yellow uranium (Vaseline) glass in natural light
Strong neon green glow under UV light
Large surface area creates dramatic fluorescence
Excellent centerpiece for UV or blacklight displays
Glass: Excellent antique condition with no cracks or chips observed (near the top of rim looks like spots of water marks, must be from manufacture process) see pictures.
Silverplate: Age-appropriate wear with some fading and areas where copper shows through, consistent with nearly 100 years of age. This does not detract from the beauty or display presence of the piece.
Lid and mount secure and display well.
Height: approx. 13 inches
A large and substantial example compared to most uranium glass pitchers.
Large mounted uranium glass pieces are increasingly difficult to find, especially intact examples suitable for UV display. The combination of etched decoration, original silver mount, and strong fluorescence makes this a standout addition to any uranium or Depression-era glass collection.
Possible glass attribution unconfirmed; Tiffin Glass Co. or Maryland Glass Co./Maryland Glass Etching Works are possibilities, as both produced similar etched designs in the period.
