A Japanese watch brand established in 1995 continues to release collections themed around "Made in Japan," featuring domestically produced movements, materials, production, assembly, and design. At the time of its founding in 1995, watch production within Japan was dwindling due to the influence of factories in China, aiming to reduce costs and supply more items inexpensively. Amidst this backdrop, young enthusiasts from Japanese watch shops and manufacturers conceived the product concept "GSX" with the following objectives:
"Create watches with character"
"Focus on crafting desired watches rather than cost"
"Utilize Japan's delicate design with Japan's delicate technology"
This concept led to the launch of a series starting in the summer of 1997, characterized by "purely domestic production" and "complete original design of GSX," which continues to this day.
GSX032 was released to commemorate the 6th anniversary of the Resident Evil series.
This model is the Barry Burton edition. As the heavy-weapons specialist of S.T.A.R.S., Barry—together with Chris Redfield—is part of the team responsible for securing safety before missions begin. Reflecting his role, this watch was designed with durability and legibility as top priorities. Based on the robust SAT Rendezvous Grand, it features an imposing 43 mm case, a size well suited to Barry’s large build.
The dial is finished in high-visibility black for excellent readability. To withstand severe external impact, the watch is housed in a thick, rugged case and fitted with hardened sapphire crystal, making it highly scratch-resistant—virtually impossible to scratch except by diamond.
It is rated for 20 ATM water resistance and powered by an automatic movement.
In addition to the leather strap, the watch also comes with a Velcro band for quick and easy fastening. The connection between the watch and the strap uses the “Fuzzy System” (a flexible joint using elastic material), allowing the watch to move naturally with the wrist and muscle movement. This reduces unnecessary strain on the wrist and pushes comfort and mobility to the highest level.
Barry himself commented on the watch:
“I’m a big guy, so naturally I like big watches too. This Rendezvous is a true mission watch built for durability. For something like this to be made in Japan—well, you’ve got to admit they did a pretty good job. When I escaped Raccoon City, the GSX100UMB-ZERO I took from my friend Robert’s body (see the final scene of Resident Evil 3) became a keepsake. But when it comes to combat, this is still the one I use.”
This model was produced in a limited edition of 600 pieces. The case back is engraved with the S.T.A.R.S. emblem along with the serial number “061/600.”
This watch is unused. The leather strap remains unworn and shows no signs of deterioration, and the Velcro strap is also in excellent condition. There are no scratches on the watch crystal.
With only 600 pieces ever made, and with GSX no longer producing watches, this model will never be manufactured again.
