US Coast & Geodetic Survey

This is an original U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey (USC & GS) map. The Survey of the Coast, as it was originally called, was formed in 1807. It was renamed Coast Survey in 1836, U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey in 1878, and in 1970 became part of NOAA. The Survey’s mission expanded from the 1807 goal of providing accurate nautical charts for the safety of maritime commerce to include most of the physical sciences including hydrography, astronomy, topography, oceanography, tide and current measurement and prediction, and more.

The maps I have for sale are between 50 to 75 years old and have been used on board ships as they were published in the times before widespread electronics were available.  I have inspected each map and taken pictures of any rips, tears, stains, hand written notes, etc and documented them as best I can. These are old and they are paper so they are not perfect.
