History
This is an oval-shaped amulet of the four-faced Brahma, created by Ajarn Heng Praiwan in 1929 (B.E. 2472).
The inscription on Ajarn Heng's tomb at Wat Sakae, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya, states: "Born in 1885 (B.E. 2428) during the reign of King Rama IV.
Died in 1959 (B.E. 2502), at the age of 75.
He was originally from Ban Hantra, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya. His father was a policeman or prison inspector who sent him to study in Penang and Singapore, but he did not complete his studies. He was interested in studying occult sciences and traveled extensively to learn in the southern region. Ajarn Heng was a contemporary of Phraya Phetpreecha and had many friends who were high-ranking officials.
Upon returning to his hometown in Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya, after becoming a Buddhist monk, he became deeply interested in studying occult texts, including spells, incantations, and mystical symbols, from the inscriptions at Wat Pradu Rong Tham, especially those of that era." Somdej Phra Phanrat, of Wat Pa Kaeo, during the reign of King Naresuan the Great (2133-2148 BE), compiled a comprehensive collection of occult sciences, inscribing them at Wat Pradu Rong Tham. The Wat Pradu Rong Tham texts serve as the foundation for treatises on magic, spells, and mystical symbols that are still studied and known today.
After Ajarn Heng disrobed, he returned to secular life and began to gain fame as a spiritual teacher, initially as a tattoo artist. Luang Pu Si recounted that during the Boworadet Rebellion in the reign of King Rama VII (2476 BE), many military officers and government officials sought his tattoos. Because Ajarn Heng held tattooing ceremonies at Wat Hantra, he needed to invite monks to chant Buddhist prayers during the rituals.
At that time (2476 BE), finding monks capable of chanting Buddhist prayers and performing consecration ceremonies in Ayutthaya Province was very difficult, with the exception of Ajarn Si of Wat Sakae. Because Master Si had studied at Wat Liap in Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya province and was very knowledgeable in this matter, whenever Master Heng needed to perform any rituals, he always had to invite Master Si to participate on the monastic side of the ceremony.
