Levi & Salaman was a Birmingham-based silversmith founded in 1870 by Phineas Harris Levi and Joseph Wolff Salaman. The firm initially manufactured gilt costume jewelry and later expanded to more expensive silver jewelry. In 1878, they acquired Potosi Silver, a manufacturer of silverplate spoons and forks, which became a significant success. The firm continued to grow and moved to larger premises in 1885. Phineas Harris Levi passed away in 1910, and the business was reorganized as Levi & Salaman Ltd. The firm was amalgamated with Barker Brothers (Silversmiths) Ltd in 1921, marking the end of its long-standing partnership. Levi & Salaman's production included a wide range of silver goods, including silver jewelry, tableware, small silver goods, and souvenir novelties. The firm's unique and stylish pieces have attracted interest from silver collectors, with some items achieving fantastic results at auction.
