"Portofino."

An original artwork, a painting incorporating a sea chart dated 1779.

The chart depicts "New York Harbour....Composed from Surveys and Observations of Lieutenants John Knight, John Hunter, of the Navy, & Others. Published by JFW Des Barres Esq., May 19th, 1779." Please note: the chart is a copy, NOT an original!

The original painting fills the lower part of the chart. It is titled "Portofino" lower left, where it is signed and dated Sept(?) 4, '09. I wonder if this work was done for a Portofino restaurant found in new York - there are branches listed in the Bronx, Queens, etc.

Whatever, this makes for a creative and interesting artwork, of particular interest to anyone who enjoys cartography, and the innovative use of map images.

Please note: the item was framed, and is photographed in its mount, but I propose to send it without the mount, hopefully rolled in a tube. That is how I have priced the carriage.

Size: A large sheet, measuring 68cms x 48cms (approx. 27" x 19").

Condition: Tape marks on the back from a previous framing, not affecting the front. Otherwise, in a good condition.  Please study the photographs.
