A charming pair of vintage needlepoint cushions, each approximately 14 inches square, with wonderfully detailed hand-stitched designs on a teal ground.

One features a classic trophée musical composition — horn, sheet music and florals — and the other a violin with florals. Both designs are typical of mid-20th century needlepoint kit work and are drawn from earlier 18th century French tapestry sources, giving them a genuinely antique feel.
The velvet backs retain their original teal colouring beneath the zip line, giving a sense of what the fabric would originally have looked like. The velvet has faded considerably over time to a soft sage-grey, and there are some light surface marks consistent with age and use. The cord piping trim is largely intact with some minor lifting in places. Cushion pads included though these are flat and would benefit from replacement.
The needlepoint faces themselves are in good condition with dense, tight stitching and good colour retention relative to the backing.

Sold as a pair. Condition is as described and reflected in the price — these are vintage items with honest age and patina.
