This exquisite vintage Kazak rug from Turkey showcases the masterful artistry of traditional hand-knotting techniques. The rich palette of aged ivory, terracotta, moss green, azure blue, and deep burgundy creates a harmonious composition that reflects the cultural heritage of Turkish weaving traditions. Each knot tells a story of skilled craftsmanship, making this square carpet a timeless centerpiece for any discerning collector.
Authenticated by our founder · 30+ years of hands-on rug expertiseEvery single knot in this rug was tied by hand — not glued, tufted, or machine-woven. A skilled weaver typically produces 8,000–14,000 knots per day. A rug of this size represents months of continuous work by a master craftsperson. This is what separates a genuine Oriental rug from a reproduction.
This rug uses synthetic / chemical dyes — plant and mineral-based colorants that have been used for centuries. Natural dyes produce richer, more complex tones that mellow gracefully with age rather than fading harshly. They are also non-toxic and hypoallergenic.
A Cotton foundation (warp and weft) provides dimensional stability — this rug will lie flat and resist stretching over decades of use. The hand-spun wool pile has a natural lanolin content that resists soil and gives the rug its characteristic soft, almost silk-like handle.
The colors you see in these photos may appear differently in your home. Every screen — whether a phone, tablet, or computer monitor — displays colors differently depending on its brightness, contrast, and color settings. Additionally, the way colors look in your space will be influenced by your home lighting, whether natural or artificial. We photograph all rugs in consistent, balanced lighting to give you the most accurate representation possible, but we encourage you to consider how your own lighting conditions may affect the final appearance. If you have any questions about the colors in this rug, please message us and we will be happy to help.
Photos taken in natural lighting · Colors may vary by screen and environmentRotate your rug 180° every 12–18 months to distribute foot traffic and sunlight exposure evenly, preserving color and pile uniformity.
Always use a quality rug pad. It prevents slipping, reduces backing wear, improves cushion underfoot, and extends the life of your rug significantly.
Blot (never rub) spills immediately with a clean white cloth. Work from the outside of the stain inward. For serious stains, consult a specialist — do not use grocery-store spot cleaners on wool.
Have your rug professionally cleaned every 3–5 years by a specialist in Oriental rugs. Avoid steam cleaning or machine washing — these can shrink wool and bleed natural dyes.
Prolonged direct sunlight will fade even natural dyes over time. Use window treatments or rotate the rug to manage light exposure in sun-heavy rooms.
Vacuum parallel to the pile direction, using low suction. Never vacuum the fringe with a beater bar. Turn over and vacuum the back occasionally to remove trapped grit.
