Shirokiya Nakamura Denbee Shop was founded in 1830, the first year of the Tenpō era, in Ginza. Later, it moved to Kyobashi, a merchants’ district, and has been making "Edo Brooms" continuously since the end of the Edo period. The Edo Broom made from broomcorn was created to suit tatami mats and the lifestyle of longhouses, perfectly fitting the Edo style. It is characterized by being soft yet firm, allowing you to sweep quickly without applying much force. Having one broom in your room or entranceway greatly increases how often you clean.
When you notice dirt, just sweep quickly and then lean it against the wall.
This broom is a bit smaller so it doesn’t get in the way when left standing by.
