For your consideration: As shown, a rare paper publication set of 2 titled: THE SOLDIER'S LETTER, Vol I. No. 1 from November 1898 and the subsequent, No. 2 from December 1898. Printed in Manila, Philippines. This very time period was inbetween Admiral George Dewey's capture of Manila on August 13, 1898 and the outbreak of the Philippine-American War on February 4, 1899.

Each measures appx 15.5 x 22.5 cm. Issue No. 1 has 40 pages and 13 photos/drawings and No. 2 has 40 pages with 9 photos/drawings. There are also an extra 9 pages for advertisements. The most significant wear is to the covers, with tears, creasing and foxing. The inside is fair with random foxing and discoloration. During the time I have owned it, it has been in a climate control space.

A past online listing mentions that these were published by the First California Volunteer Infantry and that these same 2 issues issues were the only ones printed. I purchased these separately over 15 years ago, but it took me a long time to acquire them both. This is a true piece of American military or colonial history that would enhance any collection.
