Finding new value in a direct approach, Shimamoto sought expressions that necessitate strong chance, performing the “bottle throwing” where he threw bottles filled with paint at the canvas; the shattered bottle pieces and the dispersed paint on the canvas were transformed directly into the final artwork. The resulting pieces are no longer mere byproducts of the action but exhibit a raw and unique intrinsic value. Additionally, through various experimental methods such as female rubbings as evidence of women's beautiful lives, and the establishment of artistic communication through skinhead art and mail art, he has continually presented works that transcend personal boundaries. The artist Akio Shimamoto stated, “Art is about surprising people,” and his creative activities and works emanate positive energy that captivates us.
