This is a black bamboo zaru (sieve) handmade by craftsmen at Kagoya. It can be used to serve fruits, sweets, tempura, or side dishes instead of a plate. It is especially praised in soba shops as it beautifully complements the white noodles of Sarashina soba.

The spiral design is carefully woven using "Amijiro" technique in the center and "Zaru-gumi" technique from the center to the outer edge, resembling the style of Togakushi.

Black bamboo is a type of hot bamboo, characterized by its fine fibers and the appearance of small black spots resembling sesame seeds. The mottled pattern of the outer skin is beautiful.

Bamboo does not easily develop a film of water, allowing for excellent drainage. While eating noodles, the bamboo absorbs excess moisture.

About the product's color
Since this product is handmade from natural bamboo, the color may vary depending on the production period and the environment in which it was grown. Due to the high oil content in black bamboo, white spots (clumps of oil) may appear. Please understand this is a characteristic of natural materials.

We have received happy feedback from customers
Thank you for delivering the soba zaru. I had been searching for a good drainage product for a long time, and I am very pleased and moved to finally have found it. I have already boiled freshly made soba and have started using it. The color's charm is lovely, and I intend to cherish and use it with care from now on. (From customer YE)
