This is a black bamboo zaruw (woven basket) handmade one by one by artisans at Kagoya. It can be used for various purposes, such as serving fruits, snacks, tempura, or side dishes instead of a plate. It is especially praised in soba restaurants for making the white noodles (sarashina soba) look great.

The design, resembling swirling patterns, features a "Amijito" weave in the center and a meticulous "Zaru-gumi" finish towards the outer edges, inspired by Togakushi style.

Black bamboo is a type of thin fibered, light bamboo that is characterized by its deep black hue, often dotted with black spots resembling sesame seeds. The mottled pattern of its skin is beautiful.

Bamboo tends to minimize water retention, ensuring good drainage. While enjoying noodles, the bamboo absorbs any excess moisture.

About the product's color
Since this item is hand-woven from natural bamboo, the color may vary depending on the production time and the environment in which the bamboo grew. Due to the high oil content, black bamboo may have white spots (clumps of oil). Please understand this characteristic of natural materials.
