What Is Finishing Solution?
Aves Finishing Solution is a liquid finishing aid designed to work alongside Aves epoxy products — Apoxie Sculpt, Apoxie Clay, Apoxie Paste, and Fixit. It is not a sculpting medium or adhesive — it’s a tool-dipping, smoothing, and cleanup liquid that makes epoxy work cleaner and easier.
A few drops on a brush, sculpting tool, or cotton bud is all you need. Dip, smooth, feather, or clean before the epoxy sets — the solution reduces drag, removes fingerprints, and helps you achieve a professional finish on your sculpted work.
This is the same product previously sold as Aves Safety Solvent — only the name and label have changed. If you’ve used Safety Solvent before, this is the same formula.

How to Use
| ✨ | Smoothing — Dip a brush, finger (gloved), or flat tool into the solution and glide over uncured epoxy to smooth surfaces and remove fingerprints. |
| 🔨 | Tool dipping — Dip sculpting tools before working with epoxy to prevent sticking and dragging. Re-dip as needed. |
| 💧 | Feathering and seaming — Use a dampened brush to feather edges and blend seams between epoxy and the surrounding material. |
| 🧹 | Cleanup — Wipe tools, surfaces, and embellishments with a small amount on a cloth or cotton bud to remove uncured epoxy residue. |
| 🎨 | Stain and residue removal — Can also remove saps, inks, markers, paints, and stains from some surfaces. Test on an inconspicuous area first. |

💡 Tips
| 👉 | A little goes a long way — a few drops on a tool or brush is all you need. One 30 ml bottle lasts through many sessions of detail work. |
| 👉 | Use before cure — Finishing Solution works on uncured epoxy. Once the material has fully set, it won’t dissolve or remove it. |
| 👉 | Test on surfaces first — before using on fabrics, finishes, or painted surfaces, test on an inconspicuous area for colourfastness and compatibility. |
| 👉 | Keep the cap on — close the bottle when not actively dispensing. The solution will evaporate if left open. |
| 👉 | Pair with cold water — many sculptors use water for general smoothing and reserve Finishing Solution for fine detail, seams, and stubborn residue. |
⚠️ Good to Know
This is a finishing aid, not a solvent for cured epoxy. It works on uncured material. Once epoxy has fully hardened, Finishing Solution won’t remove it.
Not a universal cleaner. It removes saps, inks, markers, and some stains, but always test on an inconspicuous spot first. It’s not designed as a household cleaner.
Use in a ventilated area. While safer than acetone, it should still be used with adequate ventilation. Keep away from heat and open flames.
Wear gloves and safety glasses. Aves recommends protective equipment during use. Keep out of reach of children.
