We are pleased to present a washboard purchased in the UK.

In Europe, washboards began to be used in the early 19th century with the industrialization of soap production.

Washboards are said to have first come into use in Japan between the end of the Meiji period and the Taisho period.

It is said that washboards were brought back to Japan by people who traveled to the West at the end of the Edo period and later became popular.

Retro-style patterned glass sparkles beautifully when exposed to light.

Recommended for display.
