Sodium Carbonate (Also known as soda ash) is used as a flux in jewellery and model casting. It helps to remove impurities from the metal, prevents oxidation during the heating process, and improves the flow of molten metal. 

The Sodium Carbonate is provided in powdered form and should be added sparingly to and thoroughly mixed with the molten metal.
