Hello,
and Welcome.
Thank you for stopping by.
Up for your consideration is one of
the rarest Arnold Palmer cards that exist in the trading card hobby
today.
The 1979 Arnold Palmer Hall of Famer
#NNO.
Graded a wonderful 5 Excellent by BVG (Beckett.)
With a beautiful, vibrant front of
the card and only minor visible imperfections in the back of the card, this is
a fine representation of an incredibly hard to find sports card. (Seems
to be undervalued in it's grading.)
This extraordinarily rare card has been illustrated
with the artwork of Jim McQueen; a talented and well respected
sports artist and friend of Jack Nicklaus and Arnold Palmer since the late
1960's.
It is not often that a sportscard issued in the past 50 years
can have an unknown origin and raise questions that were previously reserved
for pre-war cards.
Very little is known about these cards and how they were
distributed. It is known that they are very scarce and exist in small
numbers.
It is generally accepted that these cards first appeared in
1979.
To date only two subjects have been discovered, Jack Nicklaus
and Arnold Palmer and they are both unnumbered.
The cards are a little different from normal sportscards as
they are slightly more narrow and have rounded corners.
The card measures approximately 2 1/4" by 3
1/2".
While there is little information about this card the 1995
Smedley Berdock Price Guide to Golf Cards lists these cards under the Anonymous
section designated for cards of unknown origin. That book was
published over 25 years ago.
Here is alittle information on just how rare this card is.
PSA: There have been
just 19 of these Arnold Palmer cards
that have been graded by PSA.
BGS: There are just 7 of
these Arnold Palmer cards that have been graded by BGS. This is the third
highest graded behind 1 9.0, and 2 7.0's.
SGC: (0) has no reported grades for this card.
Thus, there are only 18 graded examples of this Arnold Palmer
card in existence. A true rarity in the
Sports Card hobby.
In comparison:
1) The 1965 Bancroft
Tiddlers Arnold Palmer has over 100 graded examples from PSA and 35
graded from BGS.
This card is truly the Rarest of the Rare. A Holy Grail
piece for collectors.
THE T206 HONUS WAGNER OF GOLF CARDS.
There has only been two of these
cards listed (graded or raw) on Ebay or anywhere else for the over the past
decade. Have you seen another?
What do you think this card is worth today?
Don't miss out on a rare opportunity to add this to your
collection as it is a must for the Arnold Palmer or golf card collector.
When will you see another one?
This
Arnold Palmer card is a wonderfully rare investment piece for both Palmer and
Golf Card collectors alike.
