These 4 matchbook covers are from circa 1940 for the USS Indianapolis CA-35, a US Navy cruiser serving in the Pacific theater during WW2.   Indianapolis was at Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941, but survived, only to be sunk by a Japanese submarine on July 30, 1945.  The fate of her seamen is the subject of a well-known story, as some survivors were in shark-infested waters for up to 4 days.


Condition is used, "as is", with soiling and toning, edge and corner wear.
