A lovely antique white cotton lawn blouse and skirt, likely originating from the early 1900s Edwardian era, featuring lace and intricate lace inserts throughout both pieces. The blouse is done in the distinct “pigeon breast” style which was popular in the early 1900’s, which was also referred to as the Gibson Girl silhouette. It has a center back hook and eye closure and a rounded neckline accented with a small lace trim. This same lace also outlines the front and back yoke. Circular lace inserts and pin pleats accent both the blouse and the skirt. The three quarter length sleeves are also decorated with lace and tiny pin pleats. The skirt has a 3” wide waistband with stays to keep it from rolling. It also has a hook and eye center back closure (the waist of the dress form (26”) is a bit larger than the waist of the skirt (24”), so I have had to pin it in place. Scattered circular lace inserts are scattered throughout the skirt and a wide lace and pin pleat bottom section further accents the skirt. Both pieces are in good condition but there are a few broken threads in some of the lace circles; however this does not detract from the beauty of the item. Both pieces are wearable, though a small size.
The dress is displayed on a dress form measuring:
Bustline = 34”
Waistline = 26” but skirt waistline is only 24”
Hips = 36"
Shoulder to shoulder measurement is approximately 13”
Skirt length (waist to hemline) is approximately 41”
Please note it is best with vintage items to be mindful not to exceed measurements.
