We are a group of seniors that sells items for other (computer-challenged) seniors, usually downsizing after losing a spouse. We also sell items as a fundraiser for kids’ charity projects. Our current project is to provide band instruments for junior high kids in a lower-income neighborhood. In the past 8 years we have funded over 200 instruments for kids. When we buy flatware sets for resell, we combine sets, we buy any missing pieces needed to complete the basic set, clean-up the silverware, refurbish the cases when needed, and steam-sanitize everything. We then price the sets as low as we can to still achieve a modest profit per set (compare our cost-per-piece to other sellers). 3 to 5 of our team handle and inspect each item, so we feel confident in our listing; therefore all items sold “as is”.
