HERE’S A WWII ERA “NAVY DEPARTMENT – BUREAU OF YARDS and
DOCKS” LETTER SIGNED BY WORLD WAR II NAVAL COMMANDER
EVAN LEROY KROGUE
Lt. Comdr. Evan L. Krogue served in the United States Navy (USN) and was the subject
of private relief legislation in the mid-20th century. A Congressional Bill
(H.R. 5960) was introduced for his relief in 1949 by Representative John C. Sanborn.
Krogue was a Red Bank, Monmouth County, New Jersey native.
The letter concerns a legal matter
involving a 2.9 acre tract of land in Shrewsbury Twsp, NJ.
The
purpose of the proposed legislation was to pay the sum of $518 to Lt. Comdr.
Evan L. Krogue, United States Naval Reserve, Arlington, Va. The payment of such
sum shall be in full settlement of all claims of the said claimant against the
United States arising out of official travel performed by him between
Washington, D. C., and Red Bank, N. J., between April 30, 1944, and July 16,
1944.
