Turkish amulet * Nazar Boncuğu
The Nazar Boncuğu is an eyeball-shaped amulet that wards off evil glances—such as envy and jealousy—i.e., the “evil eye.”
It is said that when misfortune strikes, these eyes will break as a substitute in your place.
Breaking is not a bad omen; rather, it is proof that you were protected.
Give thanks, and replace it with a new one.
This ornament combines the basic blue glass “Nazar Boncuğu” with a miniature carpet and metal materials.
The miniature carpet part is hard to see in the photo, but it uses plenty of shimmering gold thread and looks very luxurious.
It’s a wall hanging with a strong presence!
Size: approx. 30 cm total length; max width approx. 10 cm
Materials: glass, polyester (machine-woven), metal *Note: there is no eye motif on the back.
Country of origin: Turkey
* Each eye part is handmade by an artisan layering glass. For that reason, there are individual variations in how the eye appears.
We select items in the best possible condition, but please understand in advance that the eye shape may be slightly chipped, distorted, or not perfectly uniform.
* The design of the hanging hardware at the top and the metal charms dangling at the bottom may differ. Also, the antique finish on the metal parts may have some uneven coloration.
* The carpet-patterned fabric is glued to the metal parts, and in some cases there may be slight glue overflow.
