This LAN cable is required for connecting to the Internet via a wired connection or for connecting devices to each other.
Wired LAN connections have the advantage of being more stable than wireless LAN connections and not requiring complicated settings.
If there is a barrier, such as a concrete wall, between the router and your PC or game console,
a wired LAN connection will provide more stable connectivity.
