Vintage Companion Amplifier Psychedelic Machine, made in Japan.
Designed
by Fumio Mieda of Honey/Companion, and produced
by Shin-ei/Companion between late 1968 and early 1970.
Comprises the full Uni-Vibe circuit, plus the FY-6
Super Fuzz with
the same Expander, Volume and two-tone switch controls.
One addition on the "Mood" (Uni-Vibe) side is a standard "Tremolo" mode, an option not carried over to the Uni-Vibe format.
And while the modulation side circuitry is otherwise identical, it uses a stepped speed switch rather than incorporating a foot treadle.
"Duet" mode corresponds to the
Uni-Vibe's "Chorus" setting, while the Vibrato naming stays the
same, plus the additional Tremolo.
The modulation and fuzz circuits
are on separate boards inside, and can be used simultaneously
or independently via the Mode switch.
The two effects run in series with
the fuzz going into the modulation.
The "Cancel" sockets on
the front are for turning the effects on and off via mono footswitches (not incl) - they are not separate
outputs.
This unit was originally factory-built in Japan for
operation at 240V, with hardwired Australian plug power cable.
Users in
the US, Canada and Japan would need a high quality fully earthed step-up
transformer to convert 100-120V to 240V.
European/UK users
will just need a plug adapter. This unit is in full working order and
very good condition as pictured.
