Highlights of the Canon FTb QL:
- Lens Mount: Canon FD breech-lock mount, backward compatible with FL lenses (stop-down metering required for FL).
- Shutter: Fully mechanical, with speeds from 1 to 1/1000 sec and Bulb. No batteries needed for shutter operation!
- Light Meter: TTL metering using a CdS cell, powered by a 1.35V mercury battery (though modern zinc-air or adapter solutions can work).
- Viewfinder: Bright with a central microprism spot for focusing—simple and effective.
- Quick Load (QL) System: Canon’s signature feature—just drop in the film, pull it across, close the back, and you’re ready. It’s one of the most user-friendly loading systems of its time.
- Build Quality: All-metal body with a satisfying heft. It feels like it was carved from a single block of mountain stone—sturdy and dependable.
