Maurizio Vinanti was born in Florence in 1960 into a family of artisans and artists. From a very young age he showed a natural inclination for painting which led him to attend the State Institute of Art in Florence where he obtained the diploma of Master of Art and Master of Art. After his first youthful debut characterized by the experimentation of various styles, in the 1990s he began his journey in the tradition of nineteenth-century painting, from which he departed in 1996 to create his very personal world of landscapes and fantastic characters which then identified him as a surrealist painter. The art of the Florentine artist is characterized by bright and contrasting colours, in which memories of surreal landscapes and remote fantasies are represented. The dreamlike representation of reality and the continuous figurative research that starts from real landscapes and delves into fantastic atmospheres make him a unique exponent of contemporary surrealism. His paintings are made on multi-material panels and always accompanied by a poem, written by the poet Carla Adamo, which reveals the source of inspiration and describes the hidden characteristics that the artist has not portrayed in his work. Words and colors come together in a profound and engaging artistic union and become one thanks to the strong bond of two souls who, in addition to sharing a strong passion for art, have also been husband and wife for 40 years. His art is a continuous figurative research, which starts from typical Tuscan landscapes and delves into surreal atmospheres where colors are able to express engaging moods and thoughts. The fantastic dimension depicted in his canvases is the colorful and chimerical curtain behind which hides the tangible and concrete testimony of the passions, nightmares, dreams and aspirations that we all share. The characters that arise from his brushstrokes are suspended in the air, between reality and illusion, like the difference between the real world and that of dreams.
