About the maker from the web:

Jentique was a British furniture company established in the early 1930s by Geoffrey Bowman Jenkins and his wife Edith in Dereham, Norfolk, known for transitioning from early, heavily carved Art Deco styles to popular Scandinavian-influenced mid-century modern teak furniture during the 1960s and 70s.

Key Aspects of Jentique Furniture History:

  • Origin: Founded in the 1930s, the company was started by toymaker and inventor Geoffrey Jenkins. While early products often had decorative or Art Deco styling, the brand became best known for its later work.
  • The Mid-Century Shift: During the 1950s and 1960s, Jentique embraced the growing trend for Scandinavian-inspired design, producing stylish yet affordable modern furniture. Their 1960s sideboards, which featured tapered legs, teak veneers, and unique, often solid beech handles, are highly popular with modern collectors.
  • Production & Growth: The company saw its peak in the 1960s and 1970s, employing over 750 workers and producing large volumes of goods, including clocks and bedroom/dining furniture.

Key Products: Popular items included teak sideboards, extending dining tables, dressing tables, and bookcases. Their pieces are known for being well-constructed
