ITEM: Late 1950's Buddy L GMC TEXACO gasoline tanker. This has the GMC cab but does not have the "GMC" plastic hood ornament. The cab and trailer are one piece and do not separate. I think this was made around 1959 and is 1/12 or 1/16 scale as it measures 24" long. Has sticker on bottom of cab that says A BUDDY L QUALITY TOY MANUFACTORED BY MOLINE PRESSED STEEL CORP. USE OF TEXACO TRADEMARK AUTHORIZED BY TEXACO INC. Has decal on rear of trailer that reads TOUR WITH TEXACO SOUND YOUR HORN THE ROAD IS YOURS Please see condition.
CONDITION: This toy displays decent for its age and is all original except for 1 axle on the trailer and 2 repainted silver rims. Original paint on the cab and trailer have a lot of fine scratches mainly on the edges with mild rust in the scratches. There is spider webbing rust on the toy that can be seen when looking real close at the paint. Original TEXACO decals have a lot of cracks in them with some flaking to the decals. The original chrome grill has some chrome loss. The metal is nice and straight and I do not see any dents on the cab or trailer. The plastic tires show quite a bit of wear on the tread and have been on pavement. On the trailer the front axle closest to the cab has been fabricated and is not the original axle. The 2 center hubs or rims have been repainted silver on the 2 tires on this axle. The other 6 hubs or rims have the original silver paint. Cab and trailer are riveted together and do not separate.
