This kit is a rare 1972 early production of the Scale Structures, Ltd. New York Brownstone, a four level residence. This is the full building kit (now reffered to as the 'Super Kit') which includes material for complete side walls, including material for interior floors and roof material including the 'Dog House' for the occupants to access the roof. This kit includes the improved stoop rather than the previous one that had to be assembled tread by tread.
This kit is made up of heavy card stock for the building base, exterior front, side walls, interior subfloors and roof with scale 6"x6" wood for bracing to provide long term support for the structure. The exterior wall has embossed heavy paper stone for the building base and brick work to finish the building structure. Window treatment is included for the discerning modeler to hang. A complete brass fire escape is included as well as the front railing and gate.The window glass is included by a sheet of clear Acetate. All the windows, smoke stack, porch stoops and railings are hand cast pewter in the best tradition of SSLtd kits. There is even a mailbox and trash cans with a broom to maintain a clean neighborhood atmosphere.
This vintage craftsman kit is a fine example of early production made by the Scale Structures Limited Company of Los Angeles. Purchased in 1984 in Des Moines, IA this kit has been in my model kit inventory ever since. No efforts at testing any of the parts or kit content has been undertaken as the early reputation of SSLtd kits was always considered by the model RR community as superb and their kits to be of the highest quality. Everything remains in the original unopened and bundled condition as new.
