Hime-inro (princess inro) are small, elegantly decorated inro made mainly for women or as ornamental items. Many are exquisitely crafted using Edo period makie (lacquerware) techniques, and are highly valued as wooden or antique pieces. Characterized by their small size, they are popular as Japanese accessories that can be hung from an obi belt and enjoyed together with netsuke, and are still popular as collectibles and gifts today.
This is a princess inro with a gold maki-e landscape design.
