Take a train trip to Montreal with a piece of New Hampshire History!
Two, unpunched, late 19th Century Concord &Montreal Railroad tickets and Pullman Company advertising fan.
The Concord [New Hampshire] Railroad and the Boston, Concord& Montreal Railroad, merged in 1889 to form the Concord & MontrealRailroad, which operated independently until 1895, when it was leased by theBoston & Maine Railroad. The two unpunched duplex tickets include theconductor’s half that had to be submitted with the waybill. Thelithographic tickets are in blue with red ticket numbers, and measure 5 ¼” x 5¾”. A small portion of the top of one ticket is missing as shown in the photos. The PullmanTrain advertising fan with a wooden handle features fare information for theNew York and New England Railroad that ran from southern New YorkState through Connecticut, Rhode Island, and Massachusetts from 1873 to1893. The fan has a “July 1881” date. The cardboard fan has a tear on oneside wear on the edges and some staining, as shown in the photos, but is in good condition and firmlyattached to the wooden handle. Items found together, perhaps a memento of a tripnever taken?
