IS14 Flangeway OO Gauge - DB 965206 BR Plain Black Independent Snowplough Era 6 The Independent Snowplough was built on the redundant tender chassis' of British Railway's ex-LNER Class B1 & J39 steam Locomotive following their withdrawal in the 60's; they gave British Rail a substantial solution to tackling snowdrifts throughout the UK. They were designed to be propelled (and pulled) with 2 locomotives sandwiched in-between, the second locomotive being added for extra power and incase of failure due to the lack of couplings on the plough's blade. From 1965, these Snowplough's have continued to serve the needs of Britain's railways and are still a fundamental part of today's snow tackling duties with plenty still to be seen in Network Rail livery. Our model reflects everything from the 1960's through to the modern day.
